How to Deep Clean Your Norwex Cloth

Norwex microfiber holds seven times its weight in gunk! And as you saw in the cross contamination video…it HOLDS it. The silver does not allow bacteria, fungus, mold, etc. to survive.  However a build up of chemicals previously used, oils, grease, etc. will bind to the silver and inhibit its effectiveness. You may start to notice your cloth smells musty! The silver is inhibited…NOT the effectiveness of the microfiber…it’s not letting go!

But you will want to release all that stuff so the silver can continue doing its job!

Just fill a pot with hot water and a scoop of Ultra Power Plus laundry detergent and bring to a boil.

It begins releasing gunk almost immediatly!

20130308_101646

And here’s my water (compared with a white piece of paper) after about 10 min of boiling! Gross!

Give the cloths a good rinse under running water and hang to dry like normal.

Now the cloths have been refreshed and renewed!

If ever you have any questions or concerns regarding the care of your cloths please do not hesitate to contact me.  Your satisfaction is my utmost priority!

Spring Cleaning Part 1: Towels

We have a major problem in this house and as I was looking for a solution…I decided to take you along as I work through several challenge areas in hopes of helping you and kick off Spring Cleaning!

So I am going to do a little series…not that I am an expert but just determined to figure it out…simplify this madness 🙂

Okay…so are you ready?  Promise not to judge…

P.S.  Excuse the crappy photos.  I did not stage this for the blog.  This is a typical day so I just grabbed my cell phone and started taking pictures.

Found one here:

A few got hung up here…

20130227_094935

A couple of them tossed here:

20130227_094913

Some kid ran from the tub to their room dropping one here…

20130227_094852

And a couple more managed to get hung here…

Seriously….

20130227_094726

The kitchen table!!!!!! What?!?

But seriously this is how it is.  Everyday.

I honestly can’t take it anymore.

Can you imagine the laundry?

No one remembers whose is whose.

No one knows if it’s clean or needs to be cleaned so they just toss it down the laundry chute.

My husband ALWAYS leaves his downstairs, on the back of a chair…but if I don’t bring it back up by the time he takes his next shower then he grabs another.

So we either have a lot of towels down the chute or a lot of towels hung up or a lot of towels on the floor.

Norwex microfiber-including their bath towels contain silver. So-they are self sanitizing and won’t get that musty smell.  Bacteria, molds, fungi, etc. cannot survive in them.  It will be a fresh towel, literally, at every use.

So I decided to give myself a gift.  Quite possibly the best gift…ever.

Hubby got one color, I got another.

The baby got the hoodie/washcloth set

The big kids each got a towel, too.

The guest bath got a certain color hand towel and the kids’ bath got another color. The Master bath got the remaining color.

It is brilliant.  5 bath towels, 3 hand towels (I actually got 6 of these so there was one hanging while the other was washing)…all fresh and clean all the time and then once a week I grab ’em all up and throw them in the wash. One load.  All clean. Hang them back up and d-o-n-e.

Done.

Can you imagine the floor cabinet space I just freed up?!?  An entire shelf of my linen closet is empty!

I donated all the towels to the SAFE House.

Do it! Take the challenge to see how Norwex really can improve the quality of your life.  As with all products there is a 60-day money back guarantee!

You can order on my web site or contact me directly.

This idea was inspired by a real-life customer who gave herself this gift and did it for her family! Here’s what she wrote me:
This is the first weekend in forever that I have not been washing, drying and folding a HUGE load of bath towels. We are loving our Norwex bath towels—means I have barely a load of towels to wash each week! And I just hang them up after each shower or after drying hands, and they dry quick as can be and stay smelling nice. Thanks, Rechel!-Heather B.

Follow me here on the blog and come along as I find more and more and more ways of simplifying the endless task of housework 🙂

Oh and to be perfectly honest….

In our review of the towels…Mike and I both felt like they were very grabby upon first use.  In fact…I was not pleased and was not going to give them another try.  But I did and I am so glad I did.  After that very first use-they are great and super absorbent!

Norwex vs. eCloth

Remember when I told you that I wouldn’t sell something I couldn’t stand behind?

Remember how I Google…EVERYthing?

Well, when I was invited to that Norwex party and declined…I Googled Norwex to find out what it was and saw the reviews/blog for a knock off company.  I was like “Whoooo hooooo…..whose the smart one now?!?” and I filled my shopping cart with tons of ecloths…in fact…I got me and my sister an entire household set for Christmas!

In case you have seen ecloth and want to know “why Norwex?”….or before you think “Whoohooooo look whose the smart one now?!?” and go spending your money…

1.  I bought every cloth ecloth has and I now buy, use and sell Norwex. (I could have become an ecloth rep!)

2.  The lady that blogs about her reviews of ecloth versus Norwex is paid by ecloth!  (I am not paid for my reviews or my blog!)

3. Norwex sells many other products that enrich your life by drastically reducing the amount of chemicals you use in your home!  ecloth…well…only has the cloths!

and as for the quality….

Norwex contains silver that makes it AntiBac.  eCloth will be discontinuing their silver-containing cloth line. Seems they used “nano” silver, which washes out and can contaminate water supplies! Not Norwex, they have always used “micro” silver, which does NOT wash out and is a natural antimicrobial agent.

Regardless…if you want to compare…their “silver” cloth is $1.50 less…let’s measure up and see what a buck-fifty gets you…

1st….you’re getting almost twice the cloth for starters!

20130128_142707

2nd…

The edges of Norwex cloths are actually finished off….whereas ecloth are not…and obviously frayed after just one use!

20130128_142741

I used my ecloth once and it stained this bad…

20130128_142828

But never mind that….see how you can see right through it?!? It even has a hole in it already! Sheesh!

Here’s my Norwex that I have used for over 10 demonstrations with Vaseline, butter and chicken slime….it is held up in front of the exact same window as the picture above:

20130128_142928

But really…all of this may be okay with you…if it cleaned the same….but it doesn’t.  On the left is ecloth and the right is Norwex

20130126_164543

Here’s another pic of the same demo….

20130126_164605

Norwex has a hook tag to hang it to dry…

the ecloth polish cloth….you guessed it….

Does not.

20130128_142809

Sometimes…just a little common sense is worth $1.50. A hook tag.  Of course.  Brilliant!

Please contact me if you have any questions regarding either of these products.  I have all ecloths and Norwex cloths to demonstrate and compare side by side and I would be more than happy to show you in person!

Rest assured….I can still stand behind Norwex….and I’ve got your back!

All Norwex microfiber has a 2 year warranty, although the average life span of a cloth is more like 5-7 years. Also, the antibacterial properties of the cloths have been tested and proven effective up to 500 washings (that’s once a week for 10 years!) so CLEAN ON!!

Is Your Floor This Clean??

I told you I was going to try out all these products and let you know the ones I would stand behind…Let’s just say I am going to take the Risky out of this Business (wink-wink)

Suffice it to say I am nuts about floors.  We’ll leave it at that…if you know me…please refrain from leaving examples of my neurosis in the comment field of this post.  I said refrain 🙂

I have good reason…
IMG_0224

I am NOT saying that if you stopped in my house on a whim that you could eat off my floors but I am saying that when I clean them…I want to CLEAN them…I don’t want to be spreading dirt all over the place. I want them clean…{muffled…like white-glove-inspection-clean…muffled} you didn’t hear that did you?!?

I won’t go into everything I tried…the bottom line is…when I learned of Norwex…their AntiBac stuff…how it cleans…how it SANITIZES itself with the silver embedded in it…and that you. only. use. water.  you. only. use. water. water!  NO CHEMICALS…See my little love bugs hands all over my floor…the other 99% of the time they are in his mouth!

So when I learned that they make a wet mop pad out of the same stuff….I heard a choir singing hallelujah….I may have seen clouds separate in the sky…

I HAD to test it out for myself!

Use the dry superior mop head to get the dirt and debri…

WARNING:  This will make you feel like a janitor-especially if you go in the S-shape pattern like the pro’s do…and it gets kinda fun…seriously.  Don’t say I didn’t warn you…let me know when you’re ready to admit that you had fun…

Then you attach the wet mop head.

350001

Now here again…proof I am going to be honest with you…I don’t like the Norwex pole for this job (however it is great to keep your dry mop head on it)  You have to use water (and water only…Bu-Bye cleaning solutions, Mop N Glo, vinegar…whatevs….bye.) so why wouldn’t you use a spray mop with…um….water?!? Saves you a few trips back and forth to the sink to re-moisten the pad.  I use the Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop (Home Dep., Amazon, Target) stick the Norwex mop pad on it and let the Janitor fun begin!

Here is my sock before…

Now picture Tom Cruise in Risky Business…

And my socks after.  FYI:  You have no idea how long it took me to find 2 matching, clean socks for this experiment.  Laundry is NOT my strong suit!

Guess what?  January’s hostess benefit is the floor system (plus a few other things to boot)!  If you want to get the system for free-ninety-free…host a Norwex party in the month of January!  I will do one more weekday party and I have one weekend date left on the 26th if you want it…let me know quick!  Or feel free to order the system directly from my website.

Happy floor sliding and janitor playing!
